Living in such a busy time, we are constantly being interrupted, while working through our to-do-list which can be difficult. For me as being a woman in her 30s, you wear multiple hats every day. Depending on where you are in your life and personal choices, you are a daughter, sister, mother, aunt, wife, best-friend, bonus-mom, co-worker, supervisor, fellow human being and the list goes on and on. It can be difficult to take care of yourself, when wearing so many hats and living in such a technological time. On top of that, we are so connected to technology and get interrupted everyday from cell phones text messages to social media alters to news cycling 24 online.

We need time to decompress and take care of ourselves. What can that mean for you? For me personally, I cut out 15 minutes every evening and open up my app on my phone called the Insight Timer. Yes, I am on my cell phone on an app, but it is an amazing network of professionals and like-minded individuals. I normally will search for some soothing mediations music. I really enjoy the sound of running water and thunder. After I select my music, I start the timer and I then will mediate while lying in a comfortable place for around 5-10 minutes. This short time helps me clear my whole mind of the items cycling through constantly and any worries of that day. I can let go and focus on the present, which for me can be difficult to do throughout the day. I normally feel refreshed and ready to sleep after I am done. Mediation is one of the habits, I try to include in each day to take care of myself. I am a big advocate for everyone to take care of themselves through self-care. I know meditation is not for everyone, try to brainstorm through what you enjoy? What will work for you? What will help you feel refreshed? Think over what makes you relaxed and happy. Work on including that activity in your daily routine. You deserve it!
